Transportation between Shenzhen and Hongkong
Shenzhen to Hong Kong — By Land
- Luohu Port 罗湖口岸
It is located next to Shenzhen Railway Station in Luohu District, Shenzhen, and is the counterpart of Lo Wu Station on Hong Kong's East Rail Line after you go through customs.
In Shenzhen, you can choose from many public buses that go to the railway station, or take Metro Line 1 and get off at the terminal for Luohu Station. Continue to Luohu Port and take the MTR from Lo Wu Station to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (45 minutes).
The stations along the way are Lo Wu –Sheung Shui – Fanling – Tai Wo – Tai Po Market – University – Fo Tan – Sha Tin – Tai Wai – Kowloon Tong – Mong Kok East – Hung Hom – East Tsim Sha Tsui. It takes 84 minutes to travel from Luohu Port to Hong Kong Airport using the MTR.
- Huanggang Port 皇岗口岸
It is located in Futian District, Shenzhen and has a 24-hour port of entry that is open to cross-border buses. Only buses and taxis are available after you go through customs.
In Shenzhen, you can go to Huanggang Port by bus or taxi — there is no metro station near the port. After you go through customs, there are many direct buses that take you to areas in Hong Kong, taking about 1 hour and costing from 35 to 45 HKD.
- Futian Port 福田口岸
It is the nearest port to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and directly accessible by Airport Express Line 8. China link buses pass this port. It is located in Futian District, Shenzhen, and is the counterpart of Lok Ma Chau Station on Hong Kong's East Rail Line.
You can take the East Rail Line from this port after you go through customs. Huanggang Port and Futian Port are two separate ports, although a lot of people mistake them as being the same port.
After you go through Huanggang Port, only buses and taxis are available; after you go through Futian Port, you are at Lok Ma Chau Station on Hong Kong's East Rail Line. It takes about 10 minutes to walk between the two ports.
In Shenzhen, you can get to Futian Port by buses or via Metro Line 4 (formerly Huanggang Port Station, now Futian Port Station).
MTR stations along the way are Lok Ma Chau– Lo Wu – Sheung Shui – Fanling – Tai Wo – Tai Po Market – University – Fo Tan – Sha Tin – Tai Wai – Kowloon Tong – Mong Kok East – Hung Hom – East Tsim Sha Tsui. It takes 89 minutes to travel from Futian Port/Lok Ma Chau Station to Hong Kong International Airport when riding on the MTR.
- Shenzhen Bay Port 深圳湾口岸
It is located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, with many direct buses to areas of Hong Kong after you go through customs. Its Hong Kong counterpart is Shenzhen Bay Control Point.
In Shenzhen , you can take many buses to get to Shenzhen Bay Port: E19, 90, 123, 245, M206, M299, M409, M474, B688, B737, B794, B813, B816, and B817. Buses from there to Hong Kong include B2 (to Yuen Long), B2P (to Tin Shui Wai), B3 (to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier), B3A (to Ming Kum Light Rail Station), B3X (to Tuen Mun), and 618 (to north Tin Shui Wai).
- Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport – Kowloon/Wan Chai takes about 80 minutes by China link buses (available every 20 minutes).
Shenzhen to Hong Kong — By Sea
Among the many ways to travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, going by ship is the most convenient .
There are two ferry terminals in Shenzhen with regular ships from Shenzhen to Hong Kong — Shekou Ferry Terminal (蛇口码头) and Fuyong Ferry Terminal (福永码头, airport ferry terminal). The distance from these two ferry terminals to the Hong Kong Airport Ferry Terminal (Sky Pier) are 35 and 60 kilometers, taking only 30 or 60 minutes by ferry.
The price for Shekou Ferry Terminal to the Hong Kong ferry terminal is 110–150 yuan (children and seniors get favorable discounts), with ferries available from 7:15am to 9:30pm. The price for Fuyong Ferry Terminal to the Hong Kong ferry terminal is 295 yuan (children and seniors get favorable discounts), with ferries available from 8:15am to 7:10pm.
